What Is A Graduate Assistant?

  •  A graduate assistant is a student who is completing post-graduate education. The student would work under the director of a University Recreational Center. Within recreation many types of GA positions are available including; facilities, membership, aquatics, student development, marketing, business operations, intramural, club sports, fitness, wellness, and outdoor adventure.
  • As a graduate assistant the student can receive tuition compensation for graduate level classes, in addition to a monthly stipend for expenses such as room and board. The stipend may be in place of the normal hourly wages of most entry level employment opportunities.
  • Graduate assistantships provide students with valuable experience and help in making well-rounded students, professionals, and citizens in society.
