Adventure Programming

The climbing wall at Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center is the core of the center's adventure programming, which includes the outdoor adventure club, equipment rental, and team building & ropes course programs. Please visit the equipment rental or team building subpages to learn more about them. For inquires about the outdoor adventure club, please contact Malissa Streng at m.streng@wayne.edu.

About

Our wall is approximately 30 ft. tall with numerous top rope and bouldering options and dozens of routes of varying difficulty. Each route is marked by different color tape to resemble outdoor routes and is rated on the Yosemite Decimal System; our routes range from 5.6 (Beginner) to 5.12 (Expert). We also have several bouldering problems. While bouldering problems are no more than 15 feet high and require no rope, they are usually more difficult. Bouldering problems are graded on the "V" Scale, and range from V0 (Beginner) to V6 (Advanced). Learn more about bouldering grades here.

In partnership with intramural sports, we periodically offer climbing competitions such as bouldering comps and intramural top rope Leagues. Visit the intramural sports schedule for the most up to date climbing competition schedule and imleagues.com/wayne to sign up. Every fall and winter semester we host two to three free climb nights for you to come try out climbing. These nights are open to current students and Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center Members.
